Terms of use

These Terms of Use explain the basic rules for using SidingLedger. By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Using this site

SidingLedger is a free website that helps homeowners learn about siding and request to be matched with local siding contractors. The information on this site is for general education only.

You agree to use the site in a lawful way. Please do not misuse the site, try to break security, copy content in a way that violates the law, or send false, misleading, or harmful information.

If you use our forms, please provide accurate project and contact details. This helps us share your request with contractors that may serve your area. You can also review our Privacy Policy to learn how information is handled.

Our matching service

SidingLedger is a free matching service for homeowners. We are not a siding contractor, general contractor, or licensed construction professional. We do not install siding, inspect homes, pull permits, manage projects, or adjust insurance claims.

If you request a match through Get matched, we may share the project and contact information you provide with contractors in your area. We may not always be able to match every request.

Any contractor you speak with is an independent business. SidingLedger is not a party to any agreement, estimate, proposal, change order, warranty, financing arrangement, or other contract between you and a contractor. You decide whether to contact, hire, or not hire any contractor.

Before you sign anything or pay a deposit, you should verify that the contractor is licensed, insured, and bonded if required in your area. Ask for the price, materials, scope of work, timeline, cleanup, warranty details, and payment terms in writing. Follow local permit and code requirements.

Be careful with high-pressure sales tactics, especially after storms. Watch for storm-chaser warning signs and do not feel forced to sign on the spot.

No professional advice

Content on SidingLedger is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not legal, construction, engineering, structural, insurance, tax, or financial advice.

Any siding cost information on this site is only a typical estimate range, not a quote, bid, or guarantee. Real pricing depends on many factors, including home size and height, siding material, removal of old siding, site conditions, and your area.

You should rely on your own judgment and on qualified professionals you hire directly. For project-specific questions, speak with licensed, insured, and bonded contractors, and confirm local permit and code rules. You can also read our Disclaimer for more about site content and limitations.

Your decisions and contractor relationships

You are responsible for reviewing contractor qualifications, comparing written estimates, checking references, and deciding who to hire. SidingLedger does not guarantee the availability, performance, quality, safety, timing, pricing, or results of any contractor or project.

We do not control how contractors run their businesses, schedule work, communicate, price jobs, or handle warranties or disputes. If you enter into a contract with a contractor, that contract is between you and the contractor only.

If you have questions about using the site or need help with a request, you can contact us.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, SidingLedger is not liable for losses, damages, costs, or claims that result from your use of the site, your reliance on site content, your communications with a contractor, or any work performed or not performed by a contractor.

This includes direct or indirect losses, delays, pricing differences, property issues, service problems, disputes, or other damages connected to a contractor match, contractor estimate, contract, or project outcome.

Some states may not allow certain limits on liability. In those places, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent allowed by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. When we do, the updated version will apply to future use of the site after it is posted.

Please review these terms occasionally. Your continued use of SidingLedger after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.

In plain English

In simple words: SidingLedger is a free service that helps you learn about siding and connect with contractors. We do not do the siding work, and we are not part of your contract with any contractor. Our articles and cost ranges are general information, not professional advice or guaranteed prices. You should check that any contractor is licensed, insured, and bonded, get the job details in writing, and follow local permit and code rules.
